Mark Macedo is responsible for origination of senior first mortgage debt, mezzanine debt, and preferred equity investments in the Western Region of the United States for ARES Management, LLC.  The firm focuses on the providing capital to facilitate the acquisition, recapitalization or development of real estate projects focusing on multi-family, office, industrial, retail, student housing and self-storage

Mr. Macedo joined ARES Management in August 2011 through the merger of his former company Wrightwood Capital, LLC where Mr. Macedo was in charge of mezzanine debt and preferred equity investments for the firm’s $243MM High Yield Opportunity Fund II after its merger Hanover Financial Company of which Mr. Macedo was a Principal and stockholder. As Managing Director and COO at Hanover, Mr. Macedo was responsible for the implementation of the firm’s strategic objectives as well as fund management.  Mr. Macedo was primarily responsible for the creation of Hanover’s production programs, models, and due diligence and asset management policies and procedures managing a staff of over 20 while investing in over 85 Joint Venture investments totaling more that $1.5 billion.  Prior to joining Hanover, Mr. Macedo held the position of West Coast Director of commercial loan originations for Heller Real Estate Financial Services, a division of Heller Financial.  Originations included commercial debt and equity product types such as floating rate non-participating mortgage debt, participating mortgage debt, participating mezzanine debt and permanent “conduit” debt.  Mr. Macedo was involved in over 125 joint venture mezzanine transactions aggregating over $1 billion in total capitalization.  Mr. Macedo also held the positions of Asset Manager and Portfolio Manager, West Region where he managed a $700 million portfolio.  Mr. Macedo holds a B.A and a MBA in business administration and finance from Loyola Marymount University.
