Richard A. Meringolo is Executive Vice President and Group Head of RBS Citizens Specialty Banking Group which includes Commercial Real Estate Finance, Sponsor Finance, Private Equity Banking and Community Development Lending. He also serves as President of the Commercial Real Estate Finance group. He is a member of the companyís Executive Leadership Group, Citizens Financial Groupís senior management team.

Meringolo began with RBS Citizens in May of 2009 as head of the Global Restructuring Group (GRG). In this role, Meringolo was responsible for the overall management of approximately 115 workout professionals and a $3.6 billion portfolio of substandard rated loan investments.
In his role as President of Commercial Real Estate Finance, he oversees management of RBS Citizensí franchise-wide portfolio of $9 billion in commitments. The Sponsor Finance group provides financing for acquisitions of companies by private equity funds. The Private Equity Banking team provides specialized lines of credit and cash management services to private equity funds. The Community Development Lending team extends capital to low income housing developers.
Meringolo has more than 26 years of diverse financial services experience. Before joining CFG, he was Managing Director/Partner for Crystal Capital Fund Management responsible for initiating, underwriting and closing junior debt and private equity financings for corporate clients across all industries. He previously held various roles within FleetBoston Financial (Bank of America). Those roles included Managing Director/Partner at BankBoston Capital, the private equity division of Bank of America, responsible for management of the buyout and mezzanine portfolios; Senior Risk Manager of the Leveraged Finance and Private Equity Division; Managing Director of originations in Corporate and Investment Banking serving numerous industries including TMT, Retail, Consumer, General Industries, and Asset Based Lending among others. His Private Equity experience included memberships on boards of directors of numerous corporations. He began his career by completing an 18 month Credit Training program.
